Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to get Gingerbread upgrade

Sony Xperia X10
Even though Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 devices are still getting Android 2.1 Eclair updates in some parts of the world, the company has decided to upgrade the handset directly to Gingerbread, skipping the Froyo update.

Xperia X10 has all the necessary hardware to successfully run Gingerbread with its 1GHz processor and 384 MB RAM, and the company will make all the necessary tweaks to make it run flawlessly on the X10.

Sony Ericsson is also expected to add the Facebook integration features that were introduced in its new range of Xperia Mini handsets.

The update is expected to arrive later this year.
