Asus Eee Pad Transformer confirmed for June launch in India

Asus India head Alex Huang has confirmed that the company will launch its Honeycomb device the Eee Pad Transformer in India this June. According to him, the company had earlier planned to release the device in May, but due to the Japan Earthquake and the ensuing Component Shortage, the launch has been postponed to June.
This tablet comes with an optional docking station, which turns the tablet into a full-fledged netbook with a QWERTY keyboard and a built-in mini-HDMI port.

Apple launches iPad 2 tablet in India

As reported earlier, Apple has launched the iPad 2 in India just over a month after the US launch.Compared to its US counterpart, iPad 2 is slightly more expensive than the model it replaces, the original iPad. The iPad 2 starts at Rs. 29,500 and goes all the way up to Rs. 46,900. LG has, without any fanfare, launched another Android smartphone in the Optimus series, the Optimus Me in India for a retail price of Rs. 8,999. Samsung Galaxy SII Android Smartphone available in India now

Samsung Galaxy SII is now available in the Indian market on preorder at ShopYourWorld . According to the website, the phone will be delivered in 12 working days. The phone is the successor to the hugely popular Galaxy S and was widely anticipated.
The prices offered by the site are considerably higher than expected. Samsung Galaxy SII 16GB is available for Rs. 39,900/- and 32 GB for Rs. 51,900. It sis expected that the price will come down once this smartphone is officially launched in the retail market.

BlackBerry has launched the BlackBerry Style 9670 CDMA smartphone in India. It is the first smartphone with full QWERTY keypad in a Flip design and runs on the new Blackberry 6 Operating System. The phone is a CDMA one and is available unlocked for Rs. 24,990 and so may be used with either Tata, Reliance or MTS's CDMA network.

Huawei to launch unlocked CDMA phones in India

According to a report in themobileIndian, the Chinese company Huawei is going to introduce unlocked CDMA handsets in India which can be used on any CDMA network. Until now, Huawei has sold its CDMA phones either on Tata Indicom or on Reliance Communications' CDMA arm, but now the handsets will work on all  three CDMA  networks available in India, MTS being the third.

Currently Huawei has only one handset in the Indian market, an Android based phone called IDEOS. However, the company has many Android based tablets and smartphones in other countries that are may be launched in India soon.

G-Five to launch Android smartphones too

It seems like the Chinese company G-Five has also plans to launch Android smartphones here in India. After the previous news that it was going to launch an Android Tablet here, Jaideep Chopra, the vice-president of G-Five said to themobileIndian that the company was going to launch a number of smartphones at different price point, each running Android 2.1 Eclair.
The launch date is still unknown.

Sony Ericsson W8 to launch in May

The Sony Ericsson W8, the recently announced Walkman smartphone, is going to be launched in India next month. The phone, according to the report at themobileindian, is a heavily modified and re-badged  Xperia X8 but with some improvements. The company is claiming a music playback time of 23 hours from this device between charges, although the talk time remains at just 4-5 hours.
Previously, it was believed that the launch was still 2-3 months away.

Apple iPad 2 to launch in India in a few days

In a surprise announcement, OnlyGizmos blog claims to have been tipped by a trusted source that the iPad 2 will be launched in India later this week.  iPad 2 is an upgraded version of iPad which was launched in India only three months back which is quite a lot later than in some other countries. But this time iPad 2 is being launched here within a few months of its International release.

The iPad 2 is expected to be launched on April 28 and prices of the previous version have already been slashed in the previous weeks.
The price will most probably will be the one at which the previous iPad model was announced, which means that the 16 GB WiFi model will cost about Rs. 27,900 with the 64 GB 3G+WiFi model costing about Rs. 44,900.

Acer launching another entry- level Android Phone

It seems like Acer is planning to launch another Android smartphone in India. After the Liquid Metal, Acer is going to launch Liquid Mini in India in the coming months. This phone was announced at the MWC back in February and features Android 2.2 version (Froyo). According to a report on Fonearena who received this flyer from a user, it will be launching for a price of Rs. 11,990.

HTC Sensation launching in India on June 22

Igyaan has just reported that according to its exclusive sources within HTC India, it  is going to launch HTC Sensation in India on June 22, quite soon after the UK release. According to their unnamed source, the recent HTC Android releases in India have seen favorable response from Indian Android lovers, so company wants to continue that trend and make HTC Sensation's country debut in June.
Sensation is HTC’s 2011 Android flagship model and will cost about Rs. 32,000, although the price might settle at around Rs. 28,000 in a few months after launch.

Dell drops the price of Streak to Rs.24,350

Dell Streak
Dell today reduced the price of its tablet/smartphone Streak to Rs.24350 from its earlier price of Rs.31000.
The price reduce had already been announced overseas about two months back in preparation for the launch of the new Dell Streak 7 and this drop might mean that Dell is ready to introduce the model in India too.

This means that the streak now features quite a good price on top of its impressive features like 5" Gorilla Glass capacitive display, Android 2.2, 5 MP camera along with a front facing cam, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, and Dell's own Stage UI.

Motorola Defy getting some Froyo goodness soon!

It seems like Motorola has started rolling out the Froyo update for its Defy rugged smartphone on T-Mobile USA. So it seems like it will reach India too in the coming weeks. The update is sized about 122 MB and adds several features like:-

Galaxy 3 5801 Official Froyo update giving users problems

Only a couple of days ago, Samsung had released the official Froyo update for their entry-level smartphone the Galaxy 3 but  users are reporting several problems with the update including:-

Sony Ericsson announces first walkman droid - the W8

Sony Ericsson has announced its first ever Walkman brand smartphone running Google Android 2.1 on its website. Named the W8, it looks quite similar to the Xperia X8, and boasts similar specs. Although there's no word on the pricing, this phone will be made available in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam in the coming 2-3 months. It will be available in Azure Blue, Metallic Red and Iconic Orange. Although  the phone has an older Android version, it is is targeted towards music lovers and so might not matter too much.

Samsung Galaxy Pro officially launched in India

Samsung India has finally launched the Galaxy Pro B7510 in the country. This model was already available in retail and online stores like flipkart on preorder for Rs. 12,300. This portrait QWERTY Android smartphone comes with Android 2.2 on-board and a 800 MHz processor. It has been launched for an MRP of Rs. 13,750

G-Five to launch Android tablet in India

G-Five, a Chinese mobile handset maker, is planning to launch an Android tablet in India within the next month. The tablet will be a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen device based on Android 2.1. Although the specs were not announced, expect the device to run on a VIA processor of 600 MHz or more.
Jaideep Chopra, vice president, G-Five, says, "We are ready with the product; we are just waiting for the right time to introduce the device. The pricing will be competitive with what is available in the market."

 We are expecting it to be priced below Rs 15,000 since competitors like Olive Telecom has a similar tablet running the latest Android version for about Rs. 19,000.
 The third largest handset player in India, according to IDC, is all set to leap further by introducing 500 exclusive stores across the country, including 20 in Delhi.

It seems like the Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread update which was rolling out in certain European countries has been suspended. This was the message posted by Vodafone UK:-

Micromax readying another entry level handset A70



Micromax is readying another entry level handset handset for launch in the Indian market named A70. It will run Android 2.2 Froyo and will be a 3g enabled handset. It appears to be the successor to the Andro A60  device. Physically it seems quite similar to the HTC desire series but the image might be a fake . Although its specifications are not confirmed and are subject to change, it will have a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display.
It will cost approx. Rs. 8,000 and will be launched in the coming weeks.
